• File names and URLs

  • LFN – Logical File Name (unique to Grid)
    • Can have path
    • e.g. CERN-dataset-7/run17/part1/file-123
  • SURL – Site File Name
    • Not necessarily “physical” file name
    • Site can map to one or more “physical” files
    • Consistent with Fermilab’s SAM
    • e.g. srm://sleepy.lbl.gov:4000/tmp/foo-3000
  • TURL – Transfer file name (WP2 suggestion)
    • SRM selects protocol and physical file
    • e.g. gridftp://dm.lbl.gov:4000/home /level1/foo-3000
  • StFN – Storage file name
    • Advisory suggestion by client on “srmPut” and “srmCopy”
    • e.g. sleepy.lbl.gov:4000/tmp/foo-3000
