This directory contains a subset of STAR TAG data produced from year
2000.  This data set was used in some tests of the IBIS bitmap index
system, in particular, the performance of the compressed bitmap
schemes.

The dataset can be thought as a table, where each column is written to a
separate file.  There are 12 columns in this dataset, they are extracted
from a larger dataset containing about 500 columns.  The 500 columns are
known as tags, and are processed from a raw dataset of much larger size.

Except this file and file table.tdc, the remaining files contains raw
binary from a SUN solaris machine.  The type of the binary values are
specifed in the 'data_type' field in table.tdc.  The known types are:

I -- signed integer (4-byte)
U -- unsigned integer (4-byte)
R -- IEEE floating-point number (4-byte)
D -- IEEE floating-point number (8-byte)

The minimum and maximum given in table.tdc are meant to be the normal
range of the values.  There are many records with values outside the
range.

In addition to the data values, there is a separate file named 'rids'
containing the identifiers of the rows.  Each row identifier consists
of two 4-byte integers named mRunNumber and mEventNumber.
