OPM Schema Translator 4.1

Reference Manual

This document describes the Object-Protocol Model (OPM) Schema Translator for OPM 4.1. The OPM Schema Translator takes as input OPM schemas and generates schemas for relational database management systems (DBMSs). The OPM Schema Translator consists of two main modulesparts:

1. the first module maps OPM schemas into abstract (DBMS-independent) relational schemas and SQL queries;
2. the second module maps abstract relational schemas into schema definitions for relational DBMSs; the current version of the OPM schema translator targets Sybase 4-11 and Oracle7.

The OPM Schema Translator also generates metadata regarding OPM schemas, relational schemas, and their mapping. OPM Schema Translator 4.1 can be used in conjunction with the OPM Schema Editor.
